Adsorption heat pumps can be a source of heat and cold. The idea of such machines is the sorption of working fluid in solid material (in absorption type heat pumps there is sorption of gas in liquid). Adsorption heat pumps do not have moving parts contrary to compressor heat pump type. However the COP of adsorption installation is much lower than compressor types. From the economic point of view adsorption heat pumps should be used just in installations of heat recovery. This paper presents experimental results of operation of adsorption heat pump built at the Institute of Heat Engineering of Warsaw University of Technology.
