The paper presents experimental findings for air and water flow through channels with wire mesh packing. The effect of channel packing on heat exchange between the electrically heated channel wall and the fluid is described. The heat flux and degree of fluid heat-up were determined under flow conditions through three types of channels. The wire mesh packing was found to improve efficiency of heat exchange for air. In the case of water, the additional thermal resistance of packing sets restrictions on the amount of heat which can be transferred.
