Pressure drop during boiling of ammonia in pipes

The paper presents the results of a research and an analysis concerning identification of phenomena that occur during boiling of ammonia in horizontal pipes. Basing on the own research and the database of experimental data, the author elaborated relations which can be applied to determine the pressure drop value during boiling of ammonia that contains different proportions of oil. Two cases of flow were taken into consideration: the boiling of technically pure ammonia, i.e. with unknown small oil content in the liquid, and the boiling of ammonia with known oil content in the boiling mixture. In the first case, pressure drop calculations were based on the separated model of flowing gas-liquid mixture. The second case refers to the gas-two immiscible liquids three-phase flow mixture.
