Systems with horizontal and vertical ground heat exchangers (GHEs) of heat pumps (HPs) located in the ground in surroundings of a sewage-treatment plant are investigated in the paper. In the considered sewage-treatment plant about 7 000 000 m[^3] of elevated temperature water is dumped to special polders. Next, this water infiltrates the ground, what can intensify the heat transfer in the GHE located in such ground. Comparative analysis of the effectiveness of the GHEs of possible locations in the considered region is the aim of the paper. For this purpose, numerical calculations of temperature fields in the systems: GHEs - pertinent ground and the heat rate transferred in the GHEs have been carried out. Particularly, the vertical and horizontal GHEs located in the polders area and the vertical GHE located in the polders vicinity have been considered.Improvement of parameters of the HP resulting on its collaboration with the GHE of the best alternative has been also estimated.
