PL

Jedną z najważniejszych idei współczesnej urbanistyki jest osiągnięcie równowagi pomiędzy środowiskami siedzib ludzkich a środowiskiem naturalnym. Wymaga to odnawiania zdegradowanej substancji miejskiej oraz konserwacji zasobów naturalnych z poszanowaniem czynników ekonomicznych. Dla ożywienia oraz praktycznego i emocjonalnego związania urbanistyki, architektury krajobrazu i planowania, potrzebujemy holistycznego ujęcia problemów ekologii i urbanizacji, oraz odrzucenia binarnych opozycji takich jak architektura i natura. Inicjatywy trwałego rozwoju i przedsięwzięcia planistyczne powinny równocześnie sprzyjać tworzeniu bardziej zwartych i przyjaznych pieszym miast, odtwarzaniu bogactwa miejskich ekosystemów i niwelowaniu różnic socjalnych. Powinniśmy przełamać nieuzasadnione podziały między nauką i sztuką, bo praca badawcza i intuicja mogą, i powinny w symbiozie służyć projektowaniu środowiska. To jest warunek naszej artystycznej i zawodowej integralności, ale także trwałości i piękna środowiska, które tworzymy. Wzajemne przenikanie dyscyplin, łączenie działań w różnych skalach, może umożliwić sprawne rozwijanie zrównoważonych socjalnie i kulturowo przestrzeni publicznych.

One of the ideas on which contemporary urbanism has been based is the achievement of balance between human-made and natural environments. It requires the restoration of degraded townscapes and the conservation of ecological and economic resources. We need to adopt the holistic approach to solve the problems of ecology and urbanism and reject binary opposites such as architecture and nature to recover the vital, spatial, temporal and spiritual medium of urban design, landscape architecture and planning. Sustainability initiatives and planning efforts should interrelate to create more compact, liveable and walkable towns, restoring biodiversity of urban ecosystems and reducing social inequalities. Healing of unnecessary dichotomies between science and art, research and intuition is a requirement for designers; not only for our artistic and professional integrity, but also for the stability and beauty of the environment we create.Integrating disciplines, weaving together actions at different levels, we will be capable of contributing to sustainable, socially sound and culturally appropriate forms of public space.
