In the present climate of fast-paced and unplanned urban change, the problem of a lost identity of space and place is becoming very timely. What defines the identity of a place is its history and cultural as well as spatial heritage. But the identity of place has also received attention from more recent explorations in architecture and urban studies. What are the opportunities and risks of the identity of place in the modern city?
