Jednym z najważniejszych zagadnień dotyczących zagrożenia wodnopochodną kryptosporidiozą jest opracowanie czułej i szybkiej metody detekcji oocyst pierwotniaków z rodzaju Cryptosporidium w wodzie i ściekach. Niniejszy artykuł stanowi krótki przegląd metod bazujących na technikach biologii molekularnej, potencjalnie mogących znaleźć zastosowanie w identyfikacji i detekcji Cryptosporidium.

The development of fast, sensitive and reliable method of using PCR for detection of Cryptosporidium oocysts in environmental samples like water and wastewater would improve decisions concerning public health risk. Since there are several different methods available for detection of Cryptosporidium oocysts in water this paper is a review of most important of them.
