This paper is devoted to presentation of some essential problems connected with the production of thermal energy from wood waste and its co-combustion with fine hard coal in separate boilers installed in a municipal heat-generating plant under the assumption that hot water is supplied to a common collector connected to a heat distribution network. The results obtained will make it possible to plan fuel policy and energy management. The analysis of burning process efficiency was based on the operation of a stoker fired boiler with heating power about 5,8 MW. In particular, the dependence of boiler balance quantities on such basis parameters as fuel humidity, excess air coefficient and air temperature has been demonstrated. Moreover, attention has been paid to comparison of values of operating data regarding some specific cases in witch different quantities of heat are generated from wood waste in the process of burning it with fine hard coal.Each case is characterized by the same value of such parameters as installed power, heat load curve as well as annual heat demand. Operating costs of a heat-generating plant and production costs of 1 GJ of heat ere estimated. In the paper attention is also paid to the emission costs related to the range of wood waste burning. All the numerical values analyzed were based on the data connected with the operation of a municipal wood waste-fired heat-generating plant with heating power of about 14.5 MW.
