This study will focus on simulation of the industrial drying process of a waterborne lacquer coating. Calculations of temperature distribution and water concentration were made for lacquer-coated particleboard, foil paper covered particleboard, and glass-plate. A finite difference method with an implicit time marching formulation was used. Temperature and weight measurements have been made for the corresponding materials. The experiments were made in a full-scale drying plant. The simplified models used in this study were found to give a sufficiently accurate description of the heat and mass transfer during drying of lacquer layer coated on a particle board.
