Technological application of magnetic field to abrasive machining

Abstrakty
The paper presents the current state of the research in the area of magnetic field application in magnetoabrasive machining as well as in modification of hardened steel properties at grinding, especially the application of direct field interactions aiming at reduction of rudimentary austenite amount in the surface layer of an object being ground. In order to ontain the described result a magnetic field is used, with magnetic intensity c.a. 1 MA/m, embracing the obiect surface layer heated by the processing heat. Basic solid geometric and physical properties of the surface layer were defined; the paper also indicates the common mechanisms of shaping physical properties of the surface layer during steel grinding and magnetoabrasive machining in a magnetic field.
