W ramach niniejszej pracy podjęto badania polegające na przygotowaniu pergaminu metodami, które stosowane były przed wiekami i sztucznym postarzeniu go celem upodobnienia do starych zniszczonych pergaminów. Po takim przygotowaniu możliwe jest prowadzenie dalszych badań nad nowymi metodami zabezpieczenia pergaminu bez ryzyka uszkadzania starożytnych manuskryptów. Do analizy próbek skóry przed i po procesie przygotowania pergaminu wykorzystano promieniowanie fluorescencyjne i badania spektrofotometryczne. Na wszystkich etapach przygotowania pergaminu badano pH i wilgotność oraz prowadzono obserwacje w Skaningowym Mikroskopie Elektronowym.
