For many years now in Professor Witold Korski's team and a group of his collaboratours there have been created designs of theatres, opera houses, show halls, multifunctional and concert halls. Enough time has passed for a certain approach to these objects to be formulated, and consequently ways of solving particular problems to be changed. These problems are: Perception of spectacle. Where are the limits of the areas of transmission and response, action and audience, fiction trabsformed by thr power of art into created reality and life itself? Architecture. An immemorial and universal question : should a building have only features of similarity to some archetype to associate it with the function encoded, its intrinsic purpose? Or : is functional exhibitionism sufficient to reveal the objects's function? Symbolism. Is this object - a symbol - to be merely a hieroglyph in which is hidden some inner, mysterious meaning qualitatively distant from the surrounding reality? The theatre in the social space. Does the theatre, with its message and and decor, take place only within the closed and magic hieroglyph? Or should not life - "the theatre of the street" - be more closely integrated with the art of theatre? These are some thoughts that accompanied the work on these designs.
