Abstrakty
Do badań w latach 2001-2003 wytypowano dwa małe, okresowo bezodpływowe zbiorniki retencyjne w województwie podlaskim, utworzone w 2000 r. w wyniku spiętrzenia wód systemów melioracyjnych. Zbiornik Zarzeczany w gminie Gródek (powierzchnia - 11 ha, pojemność - 77 tys. m³, pow. zlewni - 10,1 km², lesistość zlewni - 43%) jest zlokalizowany w rozległej, podmokłej i płaskiej dolinie.
Two periodically isolated dam reservoirs in Podlaskie Province ( Poland ) were examined in 2001-2003. Reservoirs were constructed in 2000 as a result of damming reclamation systems. Zarzeczany reservoir (surface area - 11 ha, capacity - 77 000 m³, catchment area - 10.1 km², forested area - 43%) is located in the extent, waterlogged and flat valley. Water flowing out of the reservoir supplies the Supraśl River (a tributary to the Narew River ). Reservoir Jasionówka (surface area - 4.5 ha, capacity - 67 000 m³, catchment area - 6.8 km², forested area - 21%) is situated in the Brzozówka river basin (a tributary to the Biebrza River ). The impact of surface ru-off on the quality of water was observed in reservoirs. Concentration of the majority of nitrogen forms in waters of reservoirs was markedly increased. Soluble forms of phosphorus favouring the development of phytoplankton con-tributed most to the spring input of phosphorus. Small mid-field reservoirs are able to retain particulate phosphorus forms in the drainage area. Approximately 57% of phosphorus settled to the bottom in the Zarzeczany reservoir. Dam reservoirs can enhance eutrophication in rivers downstream. Spring nutrients runoff is extremely dangerous since nutrients washed out from the watershed area are then supplemented with those released from bottom sediments of reservoirs as a result of high water flow. This situation increases the negative impact of small agricultural reservoirs on ecosystems located downstream reservoirs.
