The article focuses on possibilities of developing the quality management system ISO 9001. It describes the directives included in the standards of ISO series 9000, scientific publications and in specialist guidebooks. The research showed that the knowledge from the area of developing quality management systems is insufficient, disorganized and not sufficiently emphasized in the specialist literature.
