Upper ontology based method for ontologies matching improvement

Correct placement of domain ontologies in the upper ontology structure may significantly improve the ontology matching techniques. The main idea of the algorithm presented relies on defining all undefined concepts within the domain ontology on the basis of general upper ontology concepts. Although the method itself is lexical in nature, we believe it to be the step towards semantic integration of ontologies. Upper ontology is represented by SUMO (Suggested Upper Merged Ontology), aspiring to become a standard. The article also presents the results of quality tests of the algorithm proposed.
