Hydrodynamics of the Puck Bay measurements and modelling

Hydrodynamic conditions, salinity and temperature distributions in Puck Bay monitored in situ and their simulation by numerical model is presented. A three-dimensional hydrodynamic model of Puck Bay was eIaborated using a TRISULA software package. The model has been calibrated and verified on data from meas-urements carried out in 1996 by the Institute of Hydroengineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The measurements in Puck Bay as well as the calculation with the three-dimensional hydrodynamic model enable a more complete description of the hydrodynamic conditions and water salinity and temperature distributions in this area. The current distribution in Puck Bay and the exchange of water between the two parts is very strong depending on the wind conditions.
