Structural operators in aeroelastic models of helicopter rotor blades are discussed. A feasibility study of application of smart composites for improvement of the dynamic of helicopter rotor blade properties by implementing smart composites into the rotor blade for shape control is presented. The results obtained suggest necessity of utilising the higher order theories for modelling rotating beams with smart composite elements.
