The first part of the paper describes the technology that is used over the world for the pavement rehabilitation the strengthening of existing pavements with thin bonded concrete overlays. On the basis of the review of numerous case studies the experience gained during observation of overlays on concrete and asphalt substrate is presented. The factors that affect the performance of concrete overlays and recommended procedures for design and construction of these overlays are also discussed. In the following part of the paper full scale tests of thin bonded concrete overlays will be presented.
