PL

Tematyka genetycznie modyfikowanych organizmów (GMO) implikuje w świecie coraz więcej pytań. Podczas gdy kwestia ta nie budzi większych kontrowersji w medycynie np. przy wykorzystaniu modyfikacji genetycznych gruntownie przetestowanych (do produkcji niektórych leków), to w przypadku uprawy roślin modyfikowanych genetycznie spotyka się ona z dezaprobatą ze strony konsumentów i rolników ekologicznych. Powodowane jest to troską o bioróżnorodność oraz zdrowie, co wynika z przekonania, iż spożycie modyfikowanej żywności może wywoływać negatywne skutki.

The issue of genetically modified organisms (GMO) implies world-wide more and more questions. The issue does not trigger any huge controversies in medicine e.g. by application of thoroughly tested genetic modifications (for production of some medicines). However, in the case of genetically modified crops cultivation, the issue meets with disapproval of consumers and ecological farmers. The reason is, basically, the concern about biodiversity and human health which results from the conviction that the consumption of genetically modified food can have negative effects.
