W drugiej części artykułu przedstawiono najważniejsze różnice w zakresie treści pomiędzy TBD a bazami topograficznymi opracowanymi w innych krajach Europy.

One of the factors which slows down the development of topographic databases is the fact, that the range of included data is often too wide. The aim of research was to compare the thematic range of Polish TBD with selected European topographic databases of similar level of detail and secondly, to optimize TBD's range of contents. Databases of similar purpose were identified, their thematic range analyzed and a typology suggested. That was followed by an analysis of similarities and differences of their contents range in relation to TBD. 13 out of 22 civil topographic databases with level of detail corresponding to maps in the scale of 1:10 000 (or larger) were analyzed: Belgian TOP10v-GIS, British Superplan Data, Tchech ZABAGED, Danish TOP10DK, Finnish Mastotietokanta, French BD TOPO Pays, Lithuanian KDB10LT (midi level), German Basis-DLM, Dutch TOP10vector, Norwegian FKB, Slovak ZB GIS, Slovenian DTK5 and Swedish GSD-GDD. Four of these databases contain solutions which facilitate multi-representation and generalization of data. The mechanism of ..information weighing" applied in BD TOPO Pays is particularly interesting. In TOP10v-GIS generalization is supported with the description of object's purpose, while Basis-DLM and ZB GIS include information on qualitative and quantitative features of attributes. Only Norwegian FKB is a multi-resolution database. Considering the number of stored object classes, the number of attribute groups and the number of attributes, five types of databases were established: 1) with very wide thematic range (French BD TOPO Pays, German Basis-DLM, Slovak ZB GIS) 2) with wide thematic range (Finnish Mastotietokanta) 3) with average thematic range (Belgian TOP10v-GIS, Lithuanian KDB10LT (midi level), Dutch TOP10vector, Norwegian FKB, Swedish GSD-GDD, Tchech ZABAGED, Polish TBD) 4) with narrow thematic range (Danish TOP10DK, Slovenian DTK5) 5) with narrow thematic range and special organization (British Superplan Data) Comparative analysis of the thematic range of these databases led to a conclusion that the thematic range of Polish TBD is very close to the ranges of ZABAGED, TOP10v-GIS and KDB10LT (midi level). Comparison of the information range of TBD with that of analogue maps, accounting for the objects which exist in reality shows that TBD is not overdeveloped. French BD TOPO Pays, German Basis-DLM, Slovak ZB GIS, Finnish Mastotietokanta, Belgian TOP10v-GIS and Lithuanian KDB10LT (midi level) contain much richer thematic information than TBD. The number of topographic objects and their attributes is much higher that in the Polish topographic database. At the same time almost all types of topographic objects present in TBD are also included in other national topographic databases. Because of the needs of users and the necessity to preserve the completeness of spatial data it is difficult to recommend any serious limitations of the list of objects included in TBD. However a generalization of certain less frequent objects (rarely included in other databases) or limiting the number of their attributes can be considered. In order to reduce the amount of labor and resources needed to prepare Polish TBD, solutions used in other E.U. countries could be considered, e.g. Finland, Sweden, Denmark and France. Possible usage of data available in official databases and registers should also be examined.
