Abstrakty
The impact of iron core saturation on radial forces of the discussed radial active magnetic bearings is evaluated in the entire operating range. The current and position dependent radial force characteristic is determined analytically and by numerical computations. The results presented show that the magnetic nonlinearities and cross-coupling effects can reduce the radial force considerably, which deteriorate the overall system performances. Therefore, the obtained results have to be considered in the control design.
