Abstrakty
The standard least-square method should not be applied to those rather common situations where both dependent and independent vahables have errors. An efficient method is given for computation the best straight line when both variables are subject to errors are generalized to allow for correlation of the X and Y errors. The method is illustrated by Circuit RLC used to measure phase shifts and the corresponding frequency. A MATLAB implementation of our algorithm is available.
