W Instytucie Materiałów Ogniotrwałych opracowano odnawialną, suchą i czystą ekologicznie metodę izolacji turbin energetycznych oraz rurociągów ciepłowniczych opartą na produkcji termoizolacyjnych otulin wielokrotnego użycia. Otuliny można łatwo montować i demontować. Nie wymagają konstrukcji nośnej, pokrywania zaprawą cementową, suszenia i malowania ani blaszanych osłon. Zakład Remontowy Energetyki Katowice zamontował wykonane w Instytucie otuliny jako izolację turbiny przeciwprężnej 1,5 MW w elektrociepłowni Rafinerii Nafty Trzebinia. Stosunkowo tania izolacja pracuje bez zarzutu od 2001 roku.
In the Institute of Refractory Materials a clean and dry insulating method for steam turbines and heating systems was developed. It is based on fabrication of reusable heat-insulating coverings, easy to assemble and disassemble. According to worked out technique it is needless to use supporting structures, cement mortar and related drying and painting processes nor metal shields. Coverings prepared in the Institute were installed as a heat insulation of the 1,5 MW back-pressure turbine in the CHP station in the "Trzebinia" petroleum refinery. This relatively inexpensive insulation works correctly since 2001 till now.
