Written International Standards provide a framework that supports the purchase and sale of magnetic materials. With advances in device design and operation, measurement traceability for instruments and materials is required for non-standard conditions such as non-sinusoidal waveforms. In this paper a brief summary of the underlying measurement principles are given along with a specific example that required an extension of conventional metrology. An area of particular importance is the measurement of the properties of soft magnetic materials when both the polarisation and magnetic field strength waveforms are non-sinusoidal. An introduction to the metrology issues that need considering are given including the requirements that need to be fulfilled to perform accurate waveform sampling.

Międzynarodowe normy wspomagają sprzedaż i zakup materiałów magnetycznych. Wraz z rozwojem możliwości projektowania konieczne staje się także współzależność danych pomiarowych także dla niekonwencjonalnych warunków magnesowania (nie opisanych normą). W pracy przedstawiono zasady pomiarów które mogą być podstawą rozwoju konwencjonalnych pojęć metrologii. Szczególnie ważne jest badanie właściwości magnetycznych materiałów magnetycznie miękkich, gdy zarówno polaryzacja jak i natężenie pola magnetycznego nie są sinusoidalne. Powstaje potrzeba wprowadzenia wymagań co do warunków próbkowania tych sygnałów.
