Forms of coalbed methane content into coal seams are discussed in the article and determination of "coalbed methane extraction value" is given. The technical characterization of modern intensification methods for methane recovery is cited. An appraisal of coalbed methane recovery from a coal field consists of the "methane-extraction area" into the coal seams calculation and the methane recovery appraisals as its function are presented. The successive steps for appraisal of the coalbed methane recovery from the coal field and calculation scheme are cited in the article. The method of the methane recovery appraisal may be used for complex utilization of the methane content coal field as a source of both mineral and gas fuels with a great commercial effect.

W artykule omówiono formy metanu zawartego w złożach węgla oraz określono "wartość wydobywczą" metanu. Scharakteryzowano nowoczesne metody intensyfikacji wydobycia metanu. Ocena wydobycia metanu zawartego w złożach węgla objęła obliczenia dla złoża węgla w "obszarze wydobycia metanu" i co za tym idzie, szacunek produkcji metanu. Następnie omówiono kolejne kroki oceny produkcji metanu na podstawie danych terenowych i obliczeń. Metoda oceny produkcji metanu może być też użyta w złożonych sytuacjach złożowych do oceny wielkości opłacalnych ekonomicznie zasobów mineralnych.
