Cooperation between institutions involved in kidney transplantation using internet technology

Kidney transplantation is the field where the time dependent coordination of work and information exchange between institutions taking part in the process are key issues. To ensure both these things close cooperation of participants is required. On the other hand traditional communication methods are not sufficient to support it properly. Internet technology can be the right environment to implement the idea of cooperative information exchange between participants of transplantation process. It can become a basis of Coordination Supporting System. This paper presents the way of using Internet technology to solve communication difficulties encountered in renal transplantation process. First, the research domain is specified and its main problems are pointed out. Then the architecture and functionality of the system built to support cooperation between participants are described. The paper is concluded with indication of possible directions of further evolution of the system.
