Konsekwencje nadmiernej ekspozycji skóry na promieniowanie UV są od dawna doskonale znane – aż 95% populacji potrafi wskazać związek pomiędzy problemami ze skórą a promieniowaniem UV, a 85% badanych zna ryzyko rozwoju czerniaka złośliwego.1 Jednak poziom tej wiedzy znacząco się zmienia, gdy chodzi o oko, albowiem tylko 7% ankietowanych łączy choroby oczu z nadmierną ekspozycją na promieniowanie UV.
