Referat zawiera zarys historii poszukiwań i odkryć złóż ropy i gazu w Karpatach i zapadlisku przedkarpackim. Przedstawiono również perspektywy poszukiwań w niższym piętrze strukturalnym Karpat oraz osadach miocenu i skatach podłoża zapadliska przedkarpackiego. Podkreślono zależność kolejnych odkryć złóż węglowodorów w tych rejonach geologicznych od postępu metodyczno-interpretacyjnego.

The paper presents the history and the recent hydrocarbon discoveries in the Carpathians and the Carpathian Foredeep were presented in that paper. During 150 years 67 oil and 17 gas fields have been discovered in the Polish Flysch Carpathians and almost 12 million tons of oil and around 13 billion m3 of gas was produced from these fields. Most of the accumulations discovered to date occur in the shallow, steep, narrow frequently scaled and dislocated folds. The prospectivity of the lower structural horizon in the eastern part of the Polish Flysch Carpathians is confirmed by the results of deep drilling and fragmentary results of seismic survey and processing. As a result of the exploration in the area of the Carpathian Foredeep 120 gas and oil fields heve been discovered. They produced 90.5 billion m3 of gas and 3.2 million tons of oil. The present day period of exploration is characterized by the necessity of identification of small areal and amplitudinal objects. This process becomes more and more complex. The complex geological-geophysical analysis of each newly discovrred object become necessary, regardless of usefulness of the newest technologies and interpretational procedures implementation. Most of the recent discoveries were mode using the time sag and high amplitude seismic anomalies (the DHI method). These analysis supported by the detailed sedimentological studies helped to identify the numerous prospective objects in the Miocene deposits elongated in the structural NW-SE trends. The prospectivity prognosis for the Carpathian Foredeep limited to the Miocene issue would not be completed. The results of Hermanowa 1 deep well confirmed the significant oil potential of Ordovician and Silurian source rocks. The cumulative generating potential in the Bucznik Hermanowa - Babica - Nosówka area is 8 t/m3. The prospectivity of the Jurassic up-lifted structure in the central part of the Carpathian Foredeep is still very high, but it requires more intensive velocity investigation and application of the several modern processing procedures. The Dogger deposits of the basement deserve a special attention in northeastern part of the foredeep.
