In the article, it is characterised, what ,,earth sheltered houses – underground houses” are, history of their genesis; how they operate etc. Earth sheltered, or underground houses lie mostly beneath the ground surface. The surrounding soil provides natural insulation, making these houses inexpensive to heat and cool. The article describes additional advantages of earth sheltered houses, right selection of building place, building structures and materials as well as possibilities for heating, cooling and ventilating these types of houses.
