The paper presents the usefulness of a theoretical dynamic model of the industrial machine in the on-line diagnostic process. The application of such a combined system for determination of the dynamic state of a compressor and for ensuring its safe operation during the start-up following its modernisation is discussed. Good agreement between the theoretical predictions and results of the experimental tests has been found.
