Abstrakty

EN

The concept of sustainable development involves appropriate management of natural resources, not only to prevent from their degradation, but also to contribute to their development and better usage. This undertaking may be accomplished in the area of Biosphere Reserves, which are part of Environmental Protection Zones System. Biosphere Reserves are actually integrated with the main trends in lifestyle and economy. This kind of protected area should be taken into account in regional development programmes and in policies of related sectors such as agriculture, forestery and tourism. The role of the Biosphere Reserves does not involve only conservation of environmental resources in a given area, but also searching for environmentally-friendly forms of utilizing these resources for the surrounding community. One of the main goals of the Biosphere Reserves is a joint effort between the sectors in searching for a way to utilize the natural resources for the good of the community and preserving them for future generations. Biosphere Reserves are place where the concept of sustainable development can be implemented.
