Abstrakty

Unia Europejska nie posiada własnych sił zbrojnych, jednakże podejmuje zadania związane z bezpieczeństwem oraz misjami wojskowymi. Stwarza to konkurencję dla NATO, które jest sojuszem militarnym. Dublowanie zadań wykonywanych przez sojuszników w ramach operacji wykraczających poza artykuł 5 Traktatu Północnoatlantyckiego oraz wynikających z misji petersberskich, podejmowanych przez państwa członkowskie UE, jest oceniane jako niezdrowa rywalizacja. Przyjęcie traktatu lizbońskiego wymusza znalezienie konsensusu w tej kwestii.

European Union does not own any armed forces, still it undertakes tasks related to security and military missions. Such actions are competitive to NATO, being a military alliance. Execution of the same tasks that are realized by the allies in military operations under the Article 5 of the treaty, and the Petersberg Missions by the EU member states is considered an unhealthy rivalry. The adoption of the Treaty of Lisbon should initiate some consensus in that aspect.
