The topic of the article concerns the process of a broadly understood human security and safety. The aim of the article is to analyse the basic education elements. The author looks for connections and correlations between the idea of the security notion and education for society. On this background he presents several individual and social factors affecting human security and safety. The idea of education that would meet the need of security does not entirely consist in transmission of knowledge but should also include shaping the attitudes and possibility to learn values and promote moral behaviour. Security as an educational value includes in its scope also human life experiences, is the wealth of the knowledge gained, ability of rational behaviour or ability to fulfill somebody’s dreams and plans.
