In a squeeze job, after the pumping in of the water shut-off agent, after placing the cement plug, and eliminating the cross flow behind the casing, cement slurry is usually used. Cement slurry is prepared without any agents which lower filtration, which regulates the sedimentary stability and the Theological quality of the cement solution. The success of a squeeze job does not usually exceed 60%. At the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, oil-based cement slurries were developed. They are: a waterless, oil-based cement slurry (WOBCS) and oil-based, emulsion cement slurry (EOBCS). WOBCS can be used for the following operations: isolation of whatever zones of ingress water (water underlying in the water-bearing bed, pulled up by vertical coning, or in the interstratal water-bearing bed) in oil wells and isolation of zones of ingress water by well drilling, fracturing with isolation water-bearing intake beds of productive areas, casing leak repair, and elimination of the cross flow behind the casing. The distinctive peculiarities of the oil-based, emulsion cement slurry (EOBCS) are that it has a high sedimentological stability, insulating property, and high plasticity. In response to these qualities, EOBCS can be recommend for use in the elimination of the cross flow behind the casing, including the oil cross-flow to the incumbent water-bearing bed, and for the placing of the cement plug with following punching. Cement does not crack under perforation due to its high plasticity and it maintains its insulating properties at variable well loads by repression and depression of the productive layer.
