Do transportu węgla mogą być wykorzystywane różne technologie (środki) transportowe. Do najważniejszych z nich należą: uniwersalny i specjalizowany transport kolejowy, transport samochodowy, transport wodny śródlądowy oraz transport przesyłowy. W treści artykułu zaprezentowane zostały technologie transportu węgla stosowane w Stanach Zjednoczonych. Oprócz opisu samych technologii transportowych szczególną uwagę zwrócono na określenie wielkości i znaczenia każdej z nich dla amerykańskiego systemu wydobywczo-energetycznego. Efektywne technologie transportowe mają fundamentalne znaczenie dla zapewnienia ciągłości dostaw węgla do odbiorców przemysłowych i konsumentów indywidualnych.

To transport coal can be used different transportation technologies. The most important of these include: universal and specialized railroad, trucking, inland waterways and transport transmission (pipeline and conveyor). In the article the author presented carbon transport technologies used in the United States. Apart from describing the same transport technologies, particular attention was paid to the determination of the size and importance of each of them for the American system of mining and energy. Efficient transport technologies are fundamental to ensure continuity of supply of coal to industrial customers and individual consumers.
