In the contemporary world of global economy and global conflicts, security assumed the proportions of activities’ primary goal and an important subject of social sciences’ interest. It is certainly the response of countries belonging to the Western culture circle to new challenges relating to the existence foundations of developed democratic societies. However, this also results in a series of harmful simplifications that grow to the strength of dogmas. One of them is the “unchanging” and „fundamental” opposite of a conflict and security or a conflict and progress. Discussing selected social conflict concepts the author shows the complexity of this problem.
