W publikacji przedstawiono problematyką wypadków przy pracy związanych z uderzeniami w głową człowieka następującymi z kierunków bocznych. Zaprezentowano, opracowaną w CIOP, metodyką badań zdolności amortyzacji i odporności na przebicie przemysłowych hełmów ochronnych poddawanych uderzeniom bocznym. Omówiono uzyskane wyniki badań, których obiektami były powszechnie stosowane w Polsce hełmy ochronne, dokonano ich oceny i wskazano na metody poprawy parametrów ochronnych.

Problems of accidents at work associated with side impact on a human head are presented in the paper. New test methods for determining shock absorption and resistance to penetration of helmets during side impact are discussed. The paper presents test results of industrial safety helmets used in Poland. The results are discussed and a proposal for improving the construction of helmets is presented.
