This article discusses the MSC technology which can be used to improve the soil under low embankments. The article focuses on the elements that influence the choice of soil improvement technology. The authors outline the technical and economic aspects of Menard Supply Column in comparison to the traditional method of soil replacement. Design works and trials were performed to estimate the bearing capacity and settlements of the modified soil. The trials have confirmed the validity of the design basis and the technical capability of using MSC columns as foundation for the low embankments such as car parks and service roads.
