Języki publikacji
Abstrakty
The area of 110 hectares of land located at the back of Deepwater Container Terminal (DCT) in Gdańsk is to be landscaped as a logistic center named Pomeranian Logistics Centre (PLC). This project will not only strengthen the position of Gdansk and the region as a center of logistics and distribution in the Baltic region, but will al so give an opportunity to revolutionize the logistics process used by major importers. PLC is to be run by an unconventional strategy planning, storage and distribution of goods implemented in the UK in London Gateway. Its purpose is to avoid duplication of container’s travel (loaded container to the warehouse in land and and its „empty” re turn). The project involves transfer of unloading the containers arriving from Asia to DCT to the Pomeranian Logistics Centre and the the distribution of goods from warehouses in PCL directly to the customer. The idea of shifting processes of handling and warehousing for logistics center located in the hinter land of the port should continue to in crease efficiency, time efficiency and reduce cost. Implementation of this concept would con firm the new position of Gdansk as a hub, to which title the port began to aspire after star ting ship ping from Asia directly to the DCT.
