The article presents current state of comparison of traditional perma-nently installed online partial discharge monitoring systems which are financial-ly and technically viable to alternative asset management solutions to be more cost-effective on smaller installations, e.g. secondary substations or ring units. Article focuses on industrial requirements like communication, noise reduction and elimination of sough. Recent developments in more industrialized comput-ers offers required processing power and technological advancement for harsh conditions on smaller objects.
