Revolution in the area of information technologies has been reflected in the concept defined as the NATO Network Enabled Capability (NNEC). It is about creating the information structure based on a very efficient network which would connect people, sensors and armament platforms, thus providing the conditions for achievement of informational advantage. The authors discuss a contribution of various NATO bodies in the development of NNEC and its basic assumptions, such as autonomy of national systems, federation of systems, Service Oriented Architecture, all services based on IP, implementation of Service Level Agreement and information assurance.
