There are several attempts of 60 GHz band utilization. The last one is the 802.11ad standard. This time due to cooperation of some parties the new standard could be a success. It offers a very wide channel and other features well suited for VHT (very high throughput) over very short distance.

W przeszłości podejmowano szereg prób wykorzystania pasma 60 GHz. Jedną z ostatnich jest nowo opracowany standard 802.11ad. Tym razem współpraca wielu stron daje szanse na sukces komercyjnego wdrożenia. Standard ten oferuje bardzo szeroki kanał transmisyjny i ma inne cechy odpowiednie dla wymagań związanych z bardzo wysoka przepustowością dla transmisji o małych zasięgach.
