Metodę stosuje się do oznaczania stężeń 2-nitronaftalenu w powietrzu na stanowiskach pracy. Metoda polega na adsorpcji 2-nitronaftalenu na sorbencie Amberlit XAD-2, desorpcji metanolem, prze-prowadzeniu w pochodną aminową za pomocą mieszaniny borowodorku sodu i chlorku miedzi i oznaczaniu otrzymanego 2-aminonaftalenu za pomocą wysokosprawnej chromatografii cieczowej z detekcją spektrofluorymetryczną (FLD). Oznaczalność metody wynosi 0,025 g/m3.

Air samples are collected by drawing a certain volume of air through sorbent tubes filed with glass fibre filters followed by two sections of Amberlite XAD-2 resin. Glass fibre filter and the first section of resin are thereafter extracted with methanol by means of a rotary shaker. Extracted 2-nitronaphthalene is than reduced to its amino derivative by mixture of sodium borohydride and copper (II) chloride. Arised 2-aminonaphthalene is analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography using fluorimetric detection. The working range of the analytical method is from 0.01 to 0.3 g/3ml (0.025 – 0.75 g/m3 for 400 l air sample).
