Within the cadre of modernization of the Iron Foundry FAP - Zetkama which produces mostly the castings of industry fittings, the production program was expanded on the ductile iron castings. In the melting plant there worked till then two hot blast 800 mm cupolas; the blast temperature was about 400ºC. In order to attain the possibility better to regulate the temperature of the base cast iron needed for the manufacture of ductile iron the decision was taken to provide the melting shop with an installation for oxygen addition to the blast.
