In the paper, an algorithm of pre-selection of the permanent magnet motors main dimensions is presented. The algorithm can be used for defining the set of initial points initial variants) in the optimization processes of permanent magnet synchronous motors. The software supporting the calculation of the working point of the permanent magnet has been developed. Moreover, the algorithm and computer software for the cogging torque minimization has been also developed. The software be used to determine the optimal rotor pole dimensions and number and dimensions of the stator slots.
