In the light of psycho-social analysis, armed forces constitute a complex, multilevelled social system which include, among others, interpersonal and inter-group relations. Interpersonal relations are a set of co-ordinated and spontaneous mutual relations and dependencies appearing among soldiers, subunits, units that they have been in contact with. These relations develop according to a defined dynamics based on a specific structure. The central dimension of effective relations is a mature interpersonal communication. An essential condition of an effective, satisfying communication between soldiers is the commanders’ (superiors’) interpersonal competencies which depend, among others, on the ability to know the subordinates, to help them and also to solve conflicts.
