Abstrakty
Nowadays, especially in Europe the wind energy market is in state of rapid development. Although the wind power technology seems mature, a lot of economic potential can be found in improving the basics of wind engineering - working understanding of turbine aerodynamics and site assessment. Especially detailed wake modeling of wind turbines working in real life conditions eg. operating in wake region of neighborhood turbine, brought a lot of attention lastly. The development of wind turbine wake modelling and wind farm design tools is however hampered down by lack of experimental validation data. To fill this gap the Department of Energy and Process Engineering, NTNU Trondheim has lunched the series of benchmark, wind tunnel experiments with the main idea of establishing the reliable experimental data base for typical, three bladed horizontal axis wind turbine wake and interaction modeling.
