The article reviews the safety and security aspects in the context of existing norms, standards, and international regulations in the field of transport of dangerous goods by air. By using the authorities' reports and commissions investigating aviation accidents, it pointed out that an essential factor contributing to tragic accidents resulting from the transport of dangerous goods in air transport was, among other things, non-compliance with the standards and regulations in force at that time. The natural need to improve air transport safety initially reflected in stricter rules and guidelines, but in the face of recurring accidents and incidents, it took a more systemic form. The article aims to present the issue of safe air transport of dangerous goods in the context of the modern approach to safety management. The concepts of compliance monitoring and the system approach, which based on proactive threat search and risk analysis reviewed. The current level of security of the transport of dangerous goods in air transport assessed.
