In recent years, numerous motivating incentives promote further development in steam turbine engineering. The development works aim at increasing the thermodynamic efficiency of the Rankine cycle by using 'ultra super critical' parameters of steam, new configurations of conventional coal-fired beat cycles, new high-temperature materials, as well as new configurations of turbine blading. The paper in its large part has been elaborated based on proceedings of the conference series POWER-GEN'93 to '99.
