Radioterapia jest jedną z podstawowych metod leczenia pacjentów z chorobą nowotworową. Równocześnie promieniowanie jonizujące jest czynnikiem karcinogennym. W tej publikacji przedstawiłem informacje na temat ryzyka nowotworów popromiennych w grupie osób poddanych radioterapii z powodu choroby nowotworowej. Liczba publikacji związanych z powstawaniem popromiennych nowotworów jest ogromna. Niemniej wyniki badań nie są jednoznaczne i spójne. Wynika to między innymi z tego, że odróżnienie nowotworu popromiennego od nowotworu, który ma inne źródło, jest trudne.

Radiotherapy is one of the main treatment methods used for cancer patients. At the same time, ionising radiation is a carcinogen. In this publication, I have presented information on the risk of radiation-related cancers in a group of people undergoing radiotherapy for cancer. The number of publications related to the development of radiation-induced cancers is enormous. However, the results of the studies are not clear and consistent. This is, among other reasons, because distinguishing radiation cancer from cancer that has a different source is difficult.
